TATTED baby BOOTIES: I'm gonna be an Auntie......AGAIN!!

I just found out today that I will be getting another neice this winter. I dropped everything and started on some baby booties made from 100% Silk hand dyed tatting thread "Weeping Cherries". I LOVE the way this thread is working up.
The pattern is from Beginning Tatting by Gloria Crowther. This Christmas I will have 4 nephews and 2 neices....oh my!

This is a cool hook pen that I bought from Handy Hands last year. I use it all the time. I think it is a very clever tool. I want to buy another one but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Congratulations! I can't wait to see the finished booties! I should probably make a pair for my new granddaughter due in September. I have one of those crochet hook pens too... somewhere!

Congrats on the new niece! I can't wait to see the booties when they are done.

As far as the hook, it looks like all you need to do is take the tip out of a retractable pen and replace it with a hook that has been cut down. A touch of heavy duty glue, and voila! A retractable hook!

Hah! Sherry, I just noticed that my comment came up under Mom's i.d. I must have been logged in through her account this morning!

What size is that hook? Because that is way cool - I want one! If you find out what happened to them, let me know. :-)

Maybe I'll try to make my own, I just ordered some small hooks from Handy Hands.

Congratulations on being an aunty again!

I remember those I never got one =( (didn't have the money at the time) - if you do find them again do let me know.

The closest I know of (that costs a little bit more) is from Mr David Reed Smith. here http://davidreedsmith.com/Accessories/RetractableHook.htm

Oh, lookie at the cute bootie starts! I have a hook pen like that. I got it at a lace show and I think they were clearing them out so I am not able to help you find more and I'm hanging on to mine...LOL! That is IF I can find it!
