Fabulous GMA shuttle, not so fab ceramic shuttles and new painting

I custom ordered this beautiful patchwork shuttle from GrizzlyMountainArts. I am so pleased with my purchase. Thanks Dave and Jo!
I am not too fond of bobbin style shuttles but I may have to change my tune now that I have this beauty.

Remember back when I told you I was going to try making some ceramic shuttles here is Korea?
Well.....here they are. Not surprisingly they are not usable. Making ceramic shuttles is difficult anyway and this time I had no control over the firing process.
The groggy coarse clay was not suitable for this type of project but I decided to give it a try anyway. Kyoung-mi tried to help strengthen the clay by adding some glaze, but that ended up fusing the tips together. I guess I'll have to wait until my pottery "sabbatical" is over to make new shuttles. I am soooooo homesick for my studio. I have a lot of posts to write for my pottery blog but haven't written anything because every time I think about pottery the tears start to roll.

I love paintings with snow, so of course I had to tackle a snowy water color. What was I thinking? I'm in WAY over my head! This picture is not finished and I am not too happy with it. I may start again but I think I have some more learning to do first.
BTW, this picture is of a bridge in my lovely home state of Idaho. I am SO homesick!

On to a happy note: This was in my inbox today and I thought I would share it!

Your GMA shuttle is so beautiful. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I wish your new shuttles had worked out. I like the look of them. Please don't give up on the painting. I see great promise in it and I'm sure you can bring it to life. I'm sorry you are so homesick for Idaho and your studio. It won't be long now! Keep hanging in there.

I saw the title of the post in my Google Reader, but didn't read who posted it... I was very upset to think that someone was trashing your shuttles! What a relief to see that you were commenting on a batch you had trouble with!

Dave's shuttles are beautiful! I especially love his myrtle wood shuttles with the GMA logo on them.

My book arrived... it's fabulous! I was especially thrilled to see it autographed on the same page as the special mention!

No pictures of some lovely things that arrived in the mail this week... I left my camera at school.

We are so happy that your shuttle arrived safe and sound :) I really like the earthy look of those ceramic shuttles! I'm sorry that they didn't come out the way you had hoped.

I hope your homesickness passes quickly! *hugs*

What a pretty shuttle! Are the GMA shuttles only for sale through eBay auctions? Even though I'm not really a fan of bobbin shuttles, I may have to get one. It's a toss-up between a GMA and GR8 shuttle.

That's too bad about the ceramic shuttles. For what it's worth, they are pretty even if they are not usable. The tatted detail against the terracotta-ish color is gorgeous.

Thanks again for the book and for not thinking I was completely kooky for asking you to sign it. :)

Dave's shuttles are amazing! All of his work on needle art tools are so beautiful and little works of art. You are fortunate to have such a nice little shuttle.

How unfortunate that the shuttles did not turn out. Maybe there is another solution so that you can express yourself with the pottery!

You watercolor looks nice. I think you are fishing for compliments by saying it looks bad, LOL! ;)
I got that same email and it is a good sale! Timely too with Christmas around the bend! :)

Oh, Sherry, I know how you try to stay positive, and it must be hard being so far from home. Everything is so different, and while there are days when that feels like an adventure there must be days when you just long to wake up and find yourself back home. Especially as it's a festival time in USA.
*Big hug* and best wishes.

I think your painting looks good as it is. Btw, I love the patchwork shuttle.

Your patchwork shuttle is a beauty. I have not been able to make myself sit down and work out how to use this kind of shuttle. But that's okay...they're pretty to look at.

You're making me jealous that you have the time to paint! Snow is tricky. It's one of those things that I think you have to walk away from and come back to a lot to see how it's working out.

Sounds like you need a vacation back home for a bit. :-)

I think that painting looks just great. I'm sorry you're so homesick. How long until you're back home?

Steph,
I special ordered the GMA shuttle through their Etsy website. I also own a gr8 shuttle and they are both beauties!

SummerSadie,
It's up in the air as to when I will return to the States. I suspect it's the holidays that are making me homesick....LOL

Hi Sherry, I am back to say thanks for visiting my blog. I decided to pass the award on to the first 7 who commented and you were one of them so, "Voila'!" It's yours!
