Now that it is over...(I hope) I can share the unwanted excitement I had in my life this week.
Some of you read my post "Shocked and Appalled". But I pulled it a few hours after posting because I was in the middle of resolving the problem.
To make a long story short; I stumbled across a website that was selling my book The Exquisite Collection of Tatted Butterflies for $35 to "Tatters all over the world".
I couldn't believe it. I never gave anyone permission to do such a thing. With an ulcer forming in my belly I tracked down the origin. It was a sale of a single book I had made on Etsy awhile back. I am not sure what this person was thinking but I guess they thought that gave them the right to copy and sell my book for $10 more than I sell it for.
Well, I emailed this person and asked them to remove my book from their site immediately and explained that this was a blatant copyright violation.
Fortunately they responded promptly and did as I requested.
So all's well that ends well???
Sometimes one just has to wonder.

I'm glad the offender responded to your request. I guess that's just one of those "what was he/she thinking" events. I hope it never happens to you again!
What the hell were they thinking? Glad you got it resolved.
I did see it on google alert but it was missing when I went to your blog so figured it was something in process of being resolved.
I think people just do not understand how small the internet has made the world. They might have gotten by with that 10 years ago but not any more. Glad it was resolved quickly.
Oh, yes, I remember that post! I was wondering what had happened to it. I'm glad you got it resolved. I guess that's going to be a problem with some of these books published by the authors with the spiral bound backs. Anyone can easily take them to kinko's or whatever local copy store they have around and recopy them and no one can tell the difference! Hmmmm...it's something we all can learn from, I guess. Black characters on a white page saying it's not okay to do that, unfortunately, do not stop some folks from doing it as you have learned. Thank heavens you took some action!
People are strange creatures. I really believe some folks think copyright is only for things on the New York Times bestseller list -- and other than that nobody will notice. As if. Good on you for getting it resolved.
I saw it on google reader too and not on your blog. The cheek of some people is beyond belief. Good job you spotted it.
You are right to know who all your copies went to.
OMG, Sherry! By the time I got chance to look at your post it had gone...
How dare such folk do such a thing - the world has gone mad...
I am so very glad you got it sorted.
The older I get the more gob smacked such I am by folks who want to profit from someone-else's talent...
If I don't get chance before... have grand silly season, love Sue (the purple one...)
I am appalled! I had not seen your post about this somehow. I am so sorry this happened, but happy you were able to correct it. How do people like this ever get any sleep?
I saw your original post also then it was gone, I was sure you were in the process of getting it taken care of. I just don't get what they were thinking!?!?! I hope you didn't let them off to easy.
Glad you got it sorted out. It was more than copyright infringement, it was outright theft. I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the web site. What do these people use for brains?
I am glad they promptly respected your wishes and just didn't shrug it off and make it a long drawn out affair.
My goodness, how awful. I'm glad it resolved well.
I am shocked too... How can people be so mean? well it's good thing that you caught hold of it asap.
I was wondering what that post was all about and each time i clicked it took me to some other page. well now I know!
Some People!!! so glad you got it resolved. that is so unfair to you!!
