Iris's TIAS finished....Whoo hoo!
Here it is finished...finally. TIAS stands for Tat it and See; which is a fun tatting challenge created by the very talented Jane Eborall. Several other designers have also taken a turn at hosting a TIAS ....including little ol' me.
This is Iris Niebach's pattern, (if you are a tatter, I'm sure you knew that the minute you saw the design.) Iris is a wonderful designer and I particularly like this design.
It took me 55 yards of "Rose Petals" HDT and about 40 yards of the black thread. So if you did this pattern and reversed the colors it would only take one skein of HDT.
Also, CelticDreamWeaver also did this pattern in a similar way with HDT and she said she did it with only one skein of HDT...which leads me to believe that I probably tat a little loosely.
Also, since this is a scan of "Rose Petals" it show the true colors of the thread, where as I mentioned before, the camera gets overwhelmed by the reds.
I have been working hard and doing some renovations in our home since our renters moved out. I've been getting up very early, working all day, and going to bed really late...absolutely tuckered. That is how excited I am to move back into my own home. Just doing some painting and installing bamboo flooring. It's all very fun for me...even though I could certainly use some help, so I am definitely missing hubby. I am taking pictures so you all can see the before and after. At the slow rate I am going...that may be awhile...LOL!

That is very pretty, Sherry! You did a great job. I love pink and black together. THat is a lot of work. :)
Iris' design is very pretty!
What a fabulous display of tatting! I love the colors!
Bamboo flooring... how cool! I'd love to come help, but I have these classes I have to finish, and...
Sherry, this turned out just GORGEOUS!! Good work on the tatting and the dyeing too. Glad to hear you're home again and settling in.
wow Sherry,
looks very nice you did a great job with Iris's TIAS.
good luck on your projects in your home.
Stunning job, as always! Glad to read you got to move back into your home. Home. There's nothing like it!
Sherry, your Iris Niebach TIAS doily is magnificent. Gorgeous thread, gorgeous work. Isn't her design amazing?! I tatted the design for my daughter for her birthday in blue and white. Guess she liked it too as she framed it!
May your renovations be all you hope with a minimum of mischief that can come with such endeavors.
big hugs,
Katie V in Creedmoor NC
That's really beautiful, Sherry! I can hardly wait to see your bamboo flooring. I've been wanting to do that too. It's taken us five years to build a back deck, so the flooring is probably a dream :) LOL
Hi Sherry!
So glad you're back in your house! And, of course, gorgeous tatting and colors! Thanks for measuring the thread, but I have another question: How long did this take to tat, and, more importantly - when in the world did you find the time, considering you're working around the clock, and even installing a floor by yourself? I'm more than impressed! Apparently you're feeling better?
By the way, do you know why Iris hasn't updated her blog since the end of March? Just wondering.
it's absolutely gorgeous! the rose petal HDT turns out very nice on this one. no complaints.
glad you are up and about. looking forward to seeing your reno pics. :)
Sherry, Wonderful work on the TIAS. HDT really adds to it.
Wow! The design really pops with those colors! Truly beautiful.
So glad to hear that you are back home and enjoying yourself.
Thank you all for lovely comments...I am feeling the cheeriest I have felt in about 4 years....it's SOOO good to be back in fresh air again.
Since we don't have any of our belongings yet, I am not actually moved into the home...I just go and work on it everyday....We should be in by July.
You are right Steph...there is NOTHING like home. I don't ever want to move again...LOL
Katie, funny that you mention mischief because I've already found myself knee deep in it....I unitentionally ripped off all the fingernails from my right hand....OUCH!
Jo, I will take good pictures to share when I am finished.
Kathy, I didn't do a good job at keeping track of how long it took...I had to do a lot of retro-tatting...my best estimation is between 30 and 40 hours. Hmmm I don't know why Iris hasn't updated her blog....
tell me how that bamboo flooring works out, hubby and I just put an offer in on a house!
Lovely Sherry! I am waiting on some HDT to make the very same doily! It is a gorgeous thing, I hope I can do it as proudly as you did!
Carol
