A mountain of HDT....and Where in the world is Raku?

I took a break from all my home renovations to catch up on me ol' hand dyed cotton and silk threads. Not sure if the picture tells the whole story but there is quite a lot of thread here and this is only half of it. My hands are aching from all the winding, twisting, wringing and twisting some more. But it is all worth it in the end. I am still trying to get them all added to my Etsy shop. I have some new silk solid color threads and some new colorways coming as well. But mostly I have just been re-stocking.

I had a near panic moment the other day. It was a game called "Where is Raku?".
My naughty Raku kitty is even more curious than most cats. His curiosity is what led him to loose a leg this past year. You would think that would slow him down...but no...not even remotely! I always have to be vigilant and on guard because he likes to dart through doors and try to get outside. He has never been an outdoor cat and will never be one...for obvious reasons. But he is a determined little monkey. Anyways I lost him the other day. I searched every room of the house like a billion times. I thought maybe he snuck outside while I was letting my dog in. I was starting to worry so I pulled in the big guns...my dog. She is basically a nose with a dog attached and she can always find Raku. I had her search the yard and all around the house and she didn't find him.
So I had her search the house again....now keep in mind I have nothing in my house as my household goods have not arrived...so there are not many places he could hide.
My dog kept going into my closet...because of course she is the smart one! I am in the closet and I just cannot find him...there really aren't a whole lot of places to look..but I trust my dog and her nose pointed the way.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally found him. I still have no idea how he got all the way up there on that top shelf. The little stink butt never answered me when I was calling for him for a good 30+ minutes. He was having himself a grand ol' naparoo. I am just glad he is o.k.

***A side note: "Raku" is one distinct method of pottery making. I was doing a lot of raku-ing around the time my kitty came into my life...hence the name.

OMGosh!!! That pic is so funny of Raku napping way up there on the closet shelf! No wonder you couldn't find him, LOL! Glad he was okay. I'm sure it made your heart pound with worry for a few minutes there.

Cats LOVE closets. Cossette likes to crawl up and lay on top of the hangers! It looks very odd for a fat cat to be strung out over about 5 hanging items. I'm glad you found him; even tho he knew where he was! Good nose, that dog!
My new HD silk thread arrived today ~ the PO had opened 1/2 of one end...but nothing fell out! grrrr Colors are just beautiful! Can't have too much silk thread!
hugs, Bev

That is such a funny story! I'm sure it was tense for you, but all is well that ends well.

Your threads are lovely. I wish I could afford to buy one (or more) of every color and have them hanging like that in my craft room, just begging for me to use them! Not that I have time for much of anything right now but it's fun to dream!

I'm so glad the two of you found Raku. Don't you just want to spank them when they do you that way? I always know mine are sitting somewhere giggling when I am looking for them and calling in a panic. The thread is beautiful. You have been a busy girl!

I am happy you found your precious kitty safe and sound! I have budgies(alot smaller than cats) usually they charter like mad. One day Harry was missing, unlike a cat you step on Harry and goodbye Harry..anyway I was going into severe panic until I finally found him safe under the sofa. I know the feeling and you are blessed to have such a helpful friend in your puppy.
Your threads are lovely!

A 3 legged tuxedo who manages to get himself up onto a high shelf? Amazing! Tuxedo kitties are the best, I'm biased tho since I have one too, his name is Roland.

Love the "Coral Rose" silk I got too:)
