Piccadilly's Colorway

"PICCADILLY"
This is Piccadilly's colorway, that is until she is old enough to pick out her own favorite colors. The silk in the photo is a more accurate depiction of what I am going for. A nice green with a hint of pink. I know I have said this many times and here we go again, I really do not care for the color pink (especially ALL pink) and since i am having a baby girl it is hard to get this point across. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not being a Nazi about it, I just prefer to not have my baby look like someone puked pepto bismol all over her. In the spirit of compromise, I feel like I am making great strides towards incorporating a little pink into our lives.
Now, with all that said, I have allowed ONE exception to this rule of "please no ALL pink".
Who couldn't fall in love with this?!?!? This is one of many wonderful and thoughtful items that Gramma Diane from LaceLovin-Librarian sent in a "Shower in a box". Unwrapping each item sent me into a fit of crying, especially this onsie.
So Gramma Diane...you slipped this one in! In fact, we love it so much that we have packed it in our labor bag so that when this baby makes her debut we can say "She is the one with tatting".

I have lot's of good news to report on the Piccadilly front. Firstly, I am now 36 weeks along and that means I have officially graduated from the "high risk" pregnancy group! Words cannot express how thankful I am to have made it this far. In fact all my doctors came in to shake my hand and congratulate me. It was bittersweet as I said my goodbyes to all the staff and nurses that I have gotten to know so well. But best of all, this means that I am off bed rest...whoo hoo!
The first thing I wanted to do was to go for a walk. I haven't really been able to do anything physical for over 5 months so I begged hubby to take to me to the hills even though he still had his reservations. Here we are! It was a short sweet easy little hike....or a more accurate description would be "waddle".
Now mind you, I am not going "hog wild" with my new freedom. We would still like to keep her "cook'n" as long as possible. But with the danger behind us I feel like I can finally, for the first time, enjoy being pregnant...even if the last month is notoriously the worst for discomfort.
I am still contracting like crazy...(and NO, they are NOT Braxton Hicks contractions) and baby is right there really low just waiting to come out....so I am like, "In or out kiddo...stop hanging out in the doorway!!"
Being in a constant state of pre-term labor for 5 months has been thoroughly, physically and mentally exhausting.
Every day now begs the question, "Is today THE day?" It's kinda driving me nuts folks! I'm starting to think that this little baby might be some kind of drama queen.
Is she going to be a Libra like her daddy or will she be a Scorpio like her momma??
All I know is that our lives are about to drastically change forever and we are as ready as we will ever be!
I want to slip in a big hearty THANK YOU to my friends and family who have really stepped up to help us acquire the baby essentials. Up until now I have not been able to do any baby shopping, and honestly I didn't even know what was needed. I have had some wonderful baby items arrive by post and just recently had family visit who helped tremendously in preparation. I am greatly humbled and grateful.

Sad to say but I don't think you'll get any say on pink!!! If Picadilly decides it's 'her' colour then you'll be lumbered with it. Abbi (g'daughter) won't have anything unless it's pink and that wasn't 'put on her' by her mum either!!! All the wee girls I taught over the years adored pink too!!!!
SO pleased to see and hear you sounding SO well.

I never liked pink either, but my youngest daughter Joanne would not wear anything but pink. It kind of grew on me. I even broke down and bought a pink sweater for myself a couple of years ago, because everyone told me it looked so good on me. Blue is still my favorite color, with purple close behind!

I'm glad to read that you're doing so well. Piccadilly will come when she's good and ready, whether you like it or not! I wish you all the best!

Yay 36 weeks!! Neither of my girls are crazy about pink. They wear it, but it isn't their favorite. My oldest likes blue (I painted her nursery blue/jungle) My niece is all into pink, but my sister is big into the Princess everything thing! God's blessings on an easy delivery (I was going to say Labor, but you've basically been there all along!)

Wonderful news! Enjoy her colorway (which is beautiful!) while she is very small. The day will come when she will tell you the colors she likes.

I really enjoyed reading this post, especially the part about thinking Piccadilly may be a bit of a drama queen. One of my favorite parts about being pregnant was getting to "know" the baby's personality before you ever meet. It was just such a cool feeling to learn their habits, when they're sleeping and when they're moving around, before they're born. Know what - I was pretty much spot-on with both of my kids as far as their personalities. I'm so happy for you that you've reached a point that you don't have to worry as much about prematurity. Can't wait to read the post about her arrival!!!

This is all very good news! We all said that morning sickness would not last forever......maybe it just took a little longer for you. Now you have the most exciting part to come, and don't forget to put a shuttle in her hand as soon as she is born, so that she will remember how it feels.

Woo-hoo! I'm so glad to see you up and about! You actually look like a normal, healthy pregnant lady. You get as much hiking in as you can now (without taking undue risks, obviously) because you know it'll be a while till you can do it again after she's born.

congrats!! WooHoo!!
Ah Sherry, color will be up to Picadilly. I have a grandaughter who from the time she was only a couple weeks old loved green, if you put her in pink she fussed if you changed her into green she would calm down. Her mom got rid of all pink and she was a good baby, go figure, the "experts" claim that they can't tell colors at that age, but she is 9 and still loves green, has auburn hair and freckles and green eyes.
continued blessings for a "fully cooked" Picadilly.

I've never been all that crazy about all pink myself (says me who stitched herself up some wide wale cordoroy culottes and matching jacket in high school) but my newest granddaughter seems to be in it 90% of the time, along with those headbands that give me a headache just looking at them. LOL! But she is adorable and Piccadilly will be too no matter what she wears!

I really am glad you've gotten this far. It's been a long road but you & hubby will be so rewarded.

Just a thought on Miranda's comment- you will be able to head to the hills as soon as you like, with your bub in one of those hiking carriers on her father's back! You'll all have a great time together, doing the things you enjoy.

Nice to read some good news that you are out of bed rest and hopefully back to "normal" pregnancy. Was a joy to read your post. Love the colorway you made in Picadilly's honor! Won't it be ironic if that will be her favorite color?? ;)

Congratulations, you look blooming. Rest now, you won't get a lot of chances after she's arrived :-)

So glad that you made it to the 36 week mark! It is so much easier to care for a term baby (even early term!) than a preemie!

You are doing an amazing job! I know you will keep up the good work after she is born, too!

I told my girls on Tuesday that they can stop praying for Picadilly to stay in, and start praying she comes out in God's perfect timing! Looking forward to hearing your amazing birth story and getting to meet your precious little princess!

Brings back memories. I had contractions for the last 2 months of one pregnancy. Doctors and nurses said it was contractions because Braxton hicks wasn't supposed to hurt! HA! Guess you showed them also, huh?!

Good luck and blessings.
