A Celebration of the American Warrior

August 4, 2011—Osprey Publishing announces Military History Weekend 2011 will be held October 15-16 at the Lexington George Washington Inn in Williamsburg. Sponsored by the W. Britain miniature figure company in partnership with Osprey Publishing and Casemate Publishing, this annual two day event, suitable for the whole family, will commemorate American warriors, who have fought both at home and abroad, with tomahawk and musket, rifle and sword, machine-gun and bayonet. They have shivered in the cold of Valley Forge, gone over the top in France and stormed the beaches of Normandy. Spend a weekend in historic Colonial Williamsburg and learn the way these warriors lived and fought, though re-enactment, recreation and study. Held the same weekend as the 230th anniversary Yorktown celebrations, this will make an ideal historical-themed outing for those in the Virginia and North Carolina area.
The show will feature a vast array of vendors showing and selling their wares, including antique firearms, uniforms, equipment, books, prints, kits, and miniature figures. A seminar series featuring veterans, historians, arms and equipment experts as well as gold medal military modelers will be on hand to impart their knowledge and experience, making this the perfect show for those who already have great collections and those wishing to learn more.
There will also be a plethora of events that will appeal to younger attendees. From an authentic World War II boot camp to historically accurate miniature games, kids will gain an insight that goes far beyond dry history textbooks to an interactive, hands-on historical experience in one day, including a free miniature figure painting table and a model kit make and take area that will allow them to create a little piece of history of their own.
Attendees are also invited to participate in a dinner gala on Saturday evening. Author and member of the Naval Order of the United States, James D. Hornfischer, will give a keynote address and share some of the amazing stories of combat he’s culled for books like Neptune’s Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal. In addition all attendees will receive free a custom figurine from W. Britain. There will also be a silent auction during the gala. Tickets for the event are $50.00 per person.
Entry for the show from 10:00AM-5:00PM Saturday and 11:00AM-3:00PM Sunday is $5.00 for adults. Entry fee is good for both days. Children under 16 and active duty military enter free. Osprey and W. Britain club members enter free. It’s bargain weekend fun for all!

This sounds like a great way to spend a weekend - if only we were closer. Thanks for sharing the info, as it looks like they want to make it yearly maybe another time.
God bless your husband for his service.
