Mishap avoided
This is a pair of tatted earrings I've been playing around with. The thread is silver embroidery thread and it is by far my favorite metallic thread to tat with. I added dichroic glass. They are post style earrings.
So I made a new batch of copper shuttles and as I was taking them out of the kiln my "fireproof" glove caught on fire. I reacted swiftly and properly, thank goodness, so the flames were put out within a second and I was not burned....just a bit shaken up. Unfortunately only 1 out of 6 copper shuttles survived. I am bummed because days of work went into them. Aw well, you win some and you lose some and at least I am unharmed.
I have much to be thankful for.

Your earrings are beautiful! I love the way they look with the glass posts.
That's awful about your glove and the shuttles, but you're right, better you survived than the shuttles.
Lovely earrings, I like the silver thread but I am also not a fan of tatting it,
I am so pleased you were not hurt, What a pity you lost your shuttle but it could have been worse you could have burn yourself. I hope the next batch works out better.

Yikes! Scary mishap with the fire, but glad to hear that you are okay!
The earrings are very elegant. I like how you left one ring free like a "leaf", it adds even more interest to the design with the beautiful dichroic glass. Sparkle, sparkle!
Very pretty! Did you make the dichroic glass? It would not surprise me if you had, you are so talented!
SO glad you were not burnt! Ms. P didn't see the ordeal did she? Livi gets scared seeing intense situations such as unintentional fires.
Are you able to reuse the copper?
The main thing is you were not injured! You have enough problems without having to deal with that. I know it's disappointing to lose all the work you put into the shuttles.
What brand is the silver thread?
Kathy,
I am not sure the brand since I threw away the tag before I tatted with it. But I will certainly let people know the next time I visit the store.
