Col. Song's tatted bookmark

Photobucket
This bookmark was inspired by a pattern in the Big Book Book of Tatting pg 14.
It is tatted in size 20 SILK "Rainforest" and "Pear Glace" I hope you can see the shine of the thread in the scan. I have noticed that this silk tats up a bit smaller than size 20 cotton thread. Even though they look identical in size when lying next to one another...I think it compresses more when it is tatted. I hope Col. Song likes it.
Col. Song helped me to buy some silk that is even more tightly corded than what I have been working with. It is twice as expensive as the former silk. I will be dyeing a few batches in the next couple of days if anyone wants to try it. It is the kind of thread that I would save for very special tatting projects like exhibition and heirloom pieces.
We got a surprise today. A family is moving upstairs. They sound like a heard of elephants...so I am going to have to get used to the noise. We introduced ourselves and they seem nice. I hope we become friends. They have a teenage daughter and I wonder if she might be interested in learning to tat.

A new double decker shuttle was listed today.

The bookmark is lovely. If the doesn't like it, there is something wrong with him! And you used your silk for him! I am anxious to see the new silk. Hope you can get used to the new noise and that the daughter will want to learn to tat.

I can just tell that there is a breath-taking sheen and subtle coloring that is beyond the limitations of the camera's ability to capture. Very nice gift!
I do hope the young lady will be interested in learning to tat from you. She has no idea how lucky she is.

I love the bookmark... simple, but oh so elegant with that silky sheen! I really like your double decker tatting shuttle too... I haven't taken the time to try mine out yet, but it sure is cool!

I hope you have gained a new tatting student. What fun to have the opportunity to share your love of tatting with a teenager!

For special occasions? May purchase some. Planning to make a heirloom or two. I'm glad Col. Song managed to help out at the end. We Asians normally will try our best to ensure that your need is met (within limits of course).

The silk looks just beautiful in the scan. You can get a good idea of the sheen from that picture. That's a very nice bookmark for Col. Song. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. I can't wait to see the new threads you are listing. I love silk, what a treasure.

Love the colors, especially the Pear Glace! I think the pattern you chose is great, simple but elegant, perfect for a man. I'm sure the Colonel will be pleased.
