Orchids and "Treebeard" Tatting HDT

I am a big plant and nature lover. I am sure that I share that love with many of you out there. Nature is my inspiration for ...well....just about everything.
Before I moved to S.Korea I had to give away 22 beloved house plants. I promised myself that I would not go crazy and fill my living space with plants again because I can't take them with me when I go and it is heartbreaking to pour all that energy into them and not get to keep them. I rescued 2 plants that were left to die at the first place we stayed. I thought one of them (a bamboo plant) was dead but I kept watering it for three months and it just started sprouting about two weeks ago. And I couldn't help myself when I saw someone selling those purple clovers that I love so much, so I had to add one of those to my collection.

Yesterday I found myself at a wonderful nursery in Seoul in the midst of thousands of orchids. What's a girl to do? It was irresistable, so now I am up to four plants here in Korea. This Orchid cost only $9.00 and it is all MINE!

If I were back home I would throw a beautiful clay pot for it, but for now I'll have to live with a plastic one.

Remember this guy from "Lord of the Rings"? Treebeard the Ent is one of my very favorite characters so guess what? Hee hee, he gets his own hand dyed tatting thread.

Can anyone now guess what my new project is? **giggle**

Sherry, I think you showed great self control. If I walked into a nursery that was full of orchids and they were only $9 I would have come home with a lot of them believe me.

The HDT for Ent's is a real beauty - it just captures him. Not my favourite character though - mine is the mysterious Aragorn. Too bad we can't have the true thing projected on the screen - the image does not do justice. I bet in silk it will even be more beautiful. Another to add to my list - which most probably will roll onto the floor.

Sounds like orchid heaven.

Treebeard is a fab name for an HDT.

You never fail to keep us entertained.

I'm with Clyde. It's a good thing that the two of us are not there! We'd be soooo broke! A beautiful Phalenopsis of your very own. Congratulations! I like the thread. Wonder what you are up to now?

What a bargain on those orchids! They sell for $40-$60 in the malls here so I have never bought one. I would go crazy in there! I don't blame you one bit for getting it. Enjoy your new thread!
I'm glad you're finding so much beauty where you live.

Gorgeous orchids! I love flowers! Since I have a cat to contend with I only have one, yes one, house plant. All green, no flowers. YUK!
Your thread is pretty too.

Orchids are stunning. I've had one for five or six years now and must be doing something right because it keeps blooming for me! And houseplants I just love, love, love. I have lots of green babies all over my apartment.

The 'Treebeard' and 'Middle Earth' HDTs are lovely. I read the LOTR series five or six years ago and the Ents are the characters that really stuck with me. They are my favorite part of the story.
