A cultural dinner with tatting friends...

My girls wanted to know what I looked like with makeup on.....
I very RARELY wear makeup...maybe once or twice a year. I've always been a tomboy. So I said I would wear makeup if they would dress up too....and that turned into, "Let's have a party".
So long story short, I hosted an American/Korean dinner party at our residence.
The girls showed up in their traditional "Hanbok" dresses.
Aren't they gorgeous??
It was very special for them to do that for me because they may only wear these once a year.
I made them pasta and cheesecake and they brought Korean food and we had a really wonderful time. They also took time to teach me how to make Korean dumplings (YUM)!
This will remain a wonderful memory for the rest of my life.

Oh...and an update on our tatting group...last week they learned block tatting and this week they learned dimpled rings.

Sherry, What a wonderful opportunity you have with your 4 o'clock rock group. You get to teach them tatting and as a group you can share each others cultures. It sounds like you have a wonderful time and have made some good friends.

What a great thing to have a dinner party with your "girls". For someone who claims to be very shy you sure have become a social butterfly there in Korea! What an accomplishment when things are so different there, yet, you have found some commonalities with these girls! That's very special.

I bet that was a really wonderful evening.

Well, you all look lovely!
I think you have done so well, finding new friends and learning so many new things, despite being laid low by Korean bugs :-(
I'm proud of you! I am sure I would have been just an observer all the time.

What is a mother to say? I already think you are beautiful without the makeup. With the makeup, you are another kind of beautiful. How's that? You all look very pretty and I can tell you are having lots of fun. You have done a great job teaching these women to tat and I expect you have given much more of yourself than that. Thank you for sharing the happy, smiling faces with us.

Hi Val,
It does look like lace in the photo...but it is actually leopard print. It's just an old dress I found at a second hand store...but I love it!

oic. looks great on you and the prints do look like lace. rock on!

Sounds like you had a great and fun party. You are so lucky having your own little group of tatters locally and they are very fortunate having you around.

You mean that they are only permitted to wear those dresses once a year or they wear them infrequently, perhaps once a year? I'm the picayune sort who picks up on that sort of thing & curious enough that I want to know.

Sewicked,
Kyoung-mi said that there is only one occasion a year that they might wear them too....
