New Threads and one BAD diet....

In case you are new to this blog I will give a brief re-cap of what has been going on in my life.
My DH was stationed in Korea for one year serving in the U.S. military. Even though it was an unaccompanied tour, we decided that I should go along. So with a bit of a frown from the military and all expenses paid out of our own pocket; I spent the year in Korea with him. He had a crazy job which required him to work about 14-16 hours a day, but at least I got to see him everyday even if it was only for a couple of hours.
Straight out the gate I contracted some crazy Korean virus, so the year was very rough on my health. I spent the first 8 months sleeping pretty much the entire time. The year wasn't all bad as I had the privilege of teaching tatting to some very dear Korean ladies. (Mind you, this was all in the last few months when my health started to improve.)
I left Korea one month early so that I could go back to the States and teach at the Shuttlebirds tatting convention. Hubby was supposed to join me three weeks thereafter. Due to standard military incompetence hubby, was delayed an additional 5 weeks past his commitment date. This created a plethora of problems because he was supposed to have a break after Korea and before his next assignment so that we could visit family, spend time together, and take care of important personal business.
This did not happen, instead he was flown home two days before he was to report to his next assignment...after not seeing him for 2 months and knowing that his next assignment was going to be an additional two months of training...that brings us up to date...

Well, I got to spend one day with hubby. He was terribly jet-lagged and our only day together was consumed with errands and chores. My heart is breaking for him because I see that all he needs is a break and there isn't going to be one for quite awhile. He has lost a lot of weight and unfortunately so have I. It's called the stress diet and I absolutely do not recommend it. Our day was spent with many "You are too skinny...no, YOU are too skinny" remarks. LOL!

Awww....what can I do? My heart hurts and I miss him so much. But at least I know he is back in the U.S. safe and sound instead of half way across the globe. I'm really really straining to see that silver lining here.

Anyhow, I am trying to keep my mind off of all that by working. I have been dyeing my hand dyed threads like crazy. Almost all of the colorways are caught up in stock and I have a couple of new ones:

This is "ROSE PETALS", it is much prettier in person. For some reason the camera wants to focus on the reds, and that washes out the peach and yellows.

This is called "SUMMER POND".

There will be a silver lining someday, Sherry :) *gives you a big hug* There will come a day when you both look back and talk about how smart it was to make the sacrifice to be a public servant. That's where Dave and I are now. There were MANY days when we wondered if it was all worth it, especially once our son was in school and being moved around. We are so glad we stuck it out and try to look at all of the hardships as learning experiences. As far as the stress diet is concerned, we sit around saying "Remember when we were too skinny!" :) LOL Stay very busy making your beautiful shuttles and HDT and time will pass more quickly :)

Ugh! major bummer with the break thing for your DH! Sounds like WE ALL need to get our 5 a day! (fruits & Veggies)

Cameras do LOVE red, don't they? I've gone to sit in television audiences before and if you are wearing a red shirt they will move you so that you're not too close to another red shirted person because they say "the camera LOVES red".

The Rose Petals is very alluring, especially when you said that the yellow doesn't really show in the photo...... I have yet to use a lot of what I have of your yarns, but it is almost impossible NOT to order more! I anoint Thee, the Temptress of Threads!

I am so glad you finally got to spend a day together. I hope the rest of your time apart goes quickly and you will be back together. The new threads are pretty, especially Rose Petals!
