"HOPE" and The Holocaust Project

If you guessed a butterfly you were correct. This is tatted in cotton and silk.

Has anyone ever noticed the peculiar commonalities that we tatters share with one another? I am not referring to our "reclusive" tendencies, or that we have enough patience to try a Saint (I mean come on...tatting?...thousands of tiny knots?...yes we are crazy!)
Nor am I referring to the fact that we are one of the most generous and tight knit communities on the world wide web.
No...I would like to talk about something that is perhaps a little sadder. How many of us suffer from chronic pain, depression or other health conditions? There is something soothing about tatting that draws us in and brings us together to comfort one another.
These tatters are who I designed "HOPE" for. Just a small symbol of the threads that bind us and a reminder that we are not alone.
I am working on diagramming "HOPE" this weekend and the pattern will be free and posted early next week...(maybe sooner if all goes well.)

I also think this would be a great butterfly for The Butterfly Project.
If you haven't already heard about this wonderful project, please check it out ASAP!

I know that without tatting and the blogs I would have gone stir-crazy during all this snow and being cooped up. Thankfully, the power has stayed on! Being retired means we don't have to struggle to go to work, but we DO have to shovel the driveway, and we're both weary of it! Way too much snow (and ice) for us old folks! 40" so far in February - close to a record for Pittsburgh!

By the way, during the 'first' storm, I tatted your treble clef and learned how to do the folded ring!! Thanks again for the very clever pattern.

Amazingly, my wrists are behaving themselves at the moment (all that shoveling), but I've wondered about yours! You're making shuttles and printing books and tatting and blogging and designing ...whew!

This sweet Hope butterfly is another special one and has a lot
of meaning. Will look forward to the pattern (you're so generous). Thanks also for the link to this special project.

You know you are we do have patience to do tatting and yes it is also very relaxing!!!!! I think we all have our crosses to bear and when you share your pain, everyone is there to boost you along.

That's a sweet flutter and a good tat for someone who is limited to short periods of tatting - something that can be accomplished with less effort and yet is so pretty. Very thoughtful of you Sherry!

This is a great butterfly, I'm looking forward to the pattern. I think that we as an online tatting group should make butteflies to send to the butterfly project. We could make a new blog site & post them as ppl get them ready to send. We could name our group something like Sherry's Hope Tatters. Anyway, this will be on my list of to dos. Thank you for bring it to my attention.
