Hand Surgery

Well after a couple years of pain it looks like I will be getting the carpel tunnel surgery. I have not been able to tat much as can be determined by my lack of tatting posts. I am very optimistic because I am told it is a simple procedure with a great outcome. I really would like to have full use of my hands again. Of course I will only be doing one surgery at a time. It will be nice to be able to turn door knobs grasp things again and not wake up several times a night due to pain, swelling and stiffness.
I've been getting by doing what I can when I can but there are always a couple days a week where the pain is almost unbearable. It is funny how we humans learn to just live with pain.

Well...I cannot continue to let anything get in the way of tatting and especially designing...(which is my heart's joy).

So yay for the thought of being "normal" again!

My husband has had that surgery on both hands and after the first one, his hand felt so much better (on the day of the surgery!) he was nearly in tears with relief.
(No hesitation on whether to do the second one, that's for sure)
I wish you the very best.

I hope the surgery works well for you! Pain free would be good.

I have carpal tunnel, but it isn't nearly that bad, just annoying and only sometimes makes me stop what I am doing. I am really sorry yours has brought you to the point it has, and wish you the very best during your surgery. My mom had needed surgery on both of her wrists, and never regretted is a single moment.

My mom had the surgery when I was little, and I remember her being in pain before she went in. She had hers done one at the time, and even now (going on 15-years after) you can't even tell she's had it.

Good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery!

I'm sure the surgery will go well for you - I was designated driver for my mom when she got her surgery, and it was over so quick! She's been very happy ever since, and I hope you'll be too.

Oh, yes! It's worth the bother. They did mine with a little scope thingy and I have tiny scars about a quarter inch long on my wrists -- they hid in the folds there and aren't visible to anyone who doesn't already know about them. It's nice to tat without sleeping hands -- but even nicer to SLEEP without sleeping hands! All the best, Sherry!

Oh, I wish you the best! I hate it when my arm and wrist ache, and then go to sleep too. It sounds like a very successful surgery - best wishes!

I also have Carpel tunnel, I was told a few years ago and told the doctor I would wait until I retire as I could not have the time off work, I drop everything and its been getting worse, but it just aches at times and I get the odd pain from time to time but after what I have been through this year and I have another op next week, I am afriad they will have to wait.

I do hope the surgery goes well and you get back to normal soon
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
Margaret

Here's to pain-free hands! Hope the surgery goes smoothly and the results are fantastic. My Sis had the surgery a few years ago, and it made a huge difference.
