My hair is pretty long and I decided it was time to tat with a strand. The little speck near the clover shuttle is my first tatted ring with hair. It is a ring of 5-3-3-5.
I found a little magnifying glass and took another picture. It isn't the nicest tatted ring in the world up close but without magnification you cannot really tell. I didn't really enjoy tatting with hair so I probably won't do it again...there is something gross about it.
The thread in the previous teaser photo is my HDT "Tulips" and "Chocolate covered cherries."

That certainly is tiny! I don't think I'd like tatting with my hair, even if it was long enough. I have a friend who asked me to help her learn to crochet with some yarn she had spun. I didn't like the feel of it, but trying to be polite, I asked her about it. It was hair from her cat! She decided she didn't like the feel of it either... thank goodness! I gave her a skein of alpaca, which worked very well for both of us!
Sherry, I'm sure if you look around there must be some sort of thread for sale there in Korea...quick look around...ROFLOL...You've grown desperate! LOL Just kiddin' ya...ahem...ah, yes, how "very victorian of you" a little TOO victorian, but nonetheless, victorian...ew!
Gross, eh? I don't think my hair is long enough to bother trying something gross. It certainly is an awfully tiny ring!
Nicely done! I have tatted a few rings with my niece's long hair a while ago and it worked out fairly good. One little tip when tatting with hair. Condition the hair before using to get rid of brittle spots. I know that when making the woven flowers in the art of hairwork that you are supposed to boil the hair to make it really pliable and not break. Haven't tried that and tatting it. I would think the wet hair would make it difficult to close the ring....ya think?

This girl has too much time on her hands. If you do plan to go big with this hair thing, kindly indicate. I don't think I want to handle it.
