I'm going on vacation....but my blog isn't!

Tomorrow we are leaving for a vacation in China. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. Excited to see the sites and history that China has to offer, nervous because there are lots of people in China and I am very claustrophobic when it comes to crowds. It's going to be interesting to say the least.
I haven't "unplugged" from my computer for several years, so I have decided to NOT take my laptop. Honestly, I don't know how I will survive without internet contact.
This will be a much needed vacation in many ways. Hopefully one of those get away from it all and hit the personal reset button.
We are choosing simplicity by going back to the basics, taking as little as possible with us, to allow ourselves to be wide open to adventures.

I do plan to take my tatting along....nothing can keep me from my tatting. Tatting is my therapy!

Even though I will be dropping off "the grid" for awhile; this blog will NOT.I have spent a lot of extra time preparing posts for this blog that are scheduled to publish almost daily during my absence. Cool huh? I sure do love technology! So even though I will greatly miss all that is going on in the tatting world...everything will be "as usual" here at Tatting Tales.
There are some really neat posts ahead, so please enjoy them while I am away.
Also, I have turned off my comment moderation for the time being so please leave me lots of comments....(yes I am needy for attention....LOL!) It will give me something to look forward to when I come back.
I'll miss you all while I am away!

New look of tatting ring...come on and join!

Yeah, so I am a little irritated that Ringsurf did not give any warning that they were going to overhaul this ring...but that's o.k. We'll just go with the flow.
You have probably noticed that the ring code is not quite working the same.

CURRENT MEMBERS:

-Please replace your old code with this code:

<CENTER><A href="http://www.ringsurf.com/ring/tatterswhoblog/">
<IMG alt="The Tatted Ring of Bloggers"src="http://www.ringsurf.com/images/g/tatterswhoblog-1.jpg" border=0></A><BR><A href="http://www.ringsurf.com">Powered By Ringsurf</A></CENTER>

So you are going to replace this:
Photobucket
with this:
Photobucket
When you click on the new code it will bring you to a list of members. To "surf" through the members like we did in the old style just click on any blog link in the list and you will see the new "previous" and "next" buttons on the top of the page. This new format surfs much faster than the old one.

NEW MEMBERS:

If you have been unsuccessfull in joining "The Tatted Ring of Bloggers" in the past, if you are interested in joining for the first time, or if you don't see your already registered blog in the new format please click here.
You should see a login page and once you are logged in you should see a page with a header like this:
Add Your Site To The Tatted Ring of Bloggers Ring
This new way to signup is much easier. Just remember to choose this logo:

Photobucket
and copy and paste that html code into your blog layout.
There are some awesome tatting blogs out there I would love to see in this ring. Please consider giving it a go!

Tatted Ring of Bloggers updates and reminders

I have really been enjoying this ring and I hope you have too! I hope you have found that your traffic has increased and that you are making new friends.

This post is for those who are thinking about joining or are trying to join and have found themselves unsuccessful.
This post is specifically for those of you in the queue awaiting admission. I do not have the ability to personally add you since I do not have access to your websites.
Please be sure to read the instructions (which are very helpful) and the two very simple rules for joining found here, Tatters who Blog.

This is a tatting ring and we enjoy hearing about other crafts but the content of this ring should be %90 tatting related. Also, you must add the code ring to your blog BEFORE you can be approved. This is not a rule I made up, it is the way the ring works.
As always I am very happy to personally help anyone who needs it.

Here is an apology to my Yahoo 360 friends. I know some of you have tried to join and I have tried to help you. I decided to start a yahoo 360 blog of my own so that I could test it's compatibility with ringsurf. What I found is that Yahoo 360 does not give it's users the same freedom with inserting HTML as Blogger does. I could not find a way to add the code. If someone else out there knows a way around this please by all means share. As far as I can conclude Yahoo 360 is incompatible with blog rings.

And here is a reminder to all the talented, giving, and wonderful people who are already on the ring. May I challenge you to keep posting, and to keep your blogs as tatting related as possible (my way around this is to slip a bit of tatting into all those other posts).

Thank you everyone for keeping tatting fresh, challenging and interesting! I look forward to seeing what we all come up with for the holiday season.

A ton to talk about today...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Believe it or not but this is what I was trying to achieve with that mess I posted about below. It took me three tries to get it. And looking at it now it looks quite simple. But looks can be deceiving. This is a two shuttle pattern. Since it is a cross and it is simple in appearance could anyone let me know if there is already a pattern out there like this one?

These are two tatting mugs fresh from the kiln. I am very pleased with them both and they are available in my Etsy shop for purchase.

The Tatted Ring of bloggers is steadily growing. Another incentive to join is that the "search" is set up to display the blogs with the least amount of traffic first. It is a guaranteed way to send more traffic to your site. I am leaving the "joining" up to each individual. You are the only judge of whether your blog is appropriate for the ring or not. All rules and instructions for this ring can be found here.

And lastly, I am going to put a "free patterns" link on this page soon. I am re-working the patterns in a format that one can expect from me. Not only will you get free patterns (everyone likes free right?) but also, so that you can get a good idea what to expect from any future publications I might put out.

I LOVE the Tatting Community!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Wow, this is three posts in two days. We are on a roll folks!

My friend Diane sent this book to me in the mail today. I've already perused it and it is a wonderful book, I dare say one of the better tatting books that I now own. It is made even more special by a personal inscription on the inside. I will treasure it! Thank you so much Diane, you are a sweet and kindred spirit!
I have a deep passion for tatting and the tatting community. Today I am thankful for how the internet is bringing us all together. I love technology!
For the most part tatters are generous and kind and accepting group of people...wouldn't you agree?
I just feel so blessed to be a part of this community and I hope to give back as much as I have been given.

The Tatted Ring of Bloggers is already growing. I am hoping that this might encourage some of you to go "full-throttle" with your own blogs. I would love to see a strong tatted ring of passionate tatters.
Hope everyone is having an especially wonderful day!

Tatters who Blog...UNITE!

O.k. I decided to go ahead and start a tatting blog ring. I hope all you, my tatting friends, will join. Sorry if this sounds too info-mercially. LOL!
I am working on making the Ring Logo prettier but that might take some time.
You'll notice the little "Tatted Ring of Bloggers" logo to the right.

Here goes:

Are you a Tatter who likes to blog about it? Well this blog ring might just be for you.
Blog rings are an easy way to navigate through blogs that have similar content and goals....in this case, Tatting and those who blog about it. It is a wonderful way for us to help promote each others sites.
It is easy to join and add the Blog Ring logo to your Blog.

There are only two simple rules to join The Tatted Ring of Bloggers.

Rules:
1.) In order to stay true to tatting, the content of your blog must be at least 90% Tatting related. For example: At least 9 out of every 10 posts should be about tatting. It's o.k. to post about other things as well but it would be nice to see tatting mentioned the majority of the time.

2.) You must keep your blog current by updating it at least once per month.

That is all there is to it.

Instuctions for adding the Code to your Blog.

*Please note that if you sign up your code may not work immediately, It may take up to three days to be activated.
