"Christmas in July" Tatting Exchange: Part 2

Yay! My partner Susan S. from Spokane WA. (I am so homesick for the Pacific Northwest), received her tatting exchange package so now I can share what I sent.

Remember this? For those who guessed that it's a pin..you were right. It can be worn just about any ol' where you'd wanna stick it. LOL! It was tatted in size 20, hand dyed tatting thread "Hydrangea". This was made from I kit that I purchased from Patti Duff at Shuttlebirds.

I made a set of picot gauges using the ol' credit card. I use these all the time in my own tatting.

This is a tatting decorated container for storing whatever you like to put in it.

Sue requested help with her snowflake collection. So here is a snowflake with glass beads, tatted in size 80 hand dyed tatting thread "Weeping Cherry". This pattern is "Star Shaped Snowflake" From "Tatted Snowflakes" by Vida Sunderman, p31

A bag o' beads, 20 yards of hand dyed tatting silk in "Rain Forest" Green, and a tin of chocolates which I hope didn't melt on the way from S. Korea to Spokane.

This exchange was a lot of fun and I may consider doing another in the future.

"Christmas in July" Tatting Exchange: Part 1

Whoo hoo! Since I am almost a whole day ahead of my Western friends I got to open my exchange package.
Let me tell you, I have been a good girl and have been eyeing this package for at least a week and a half but I exercised self discipline and waited a whole two minutes into July 31st before tearing it open.
"Here Be Tatters" and more specifically the lovely Sue Hanson arranged what is probably the biggest tatting exchange of all time. Thank you so much Sue for all your hard work! Tatters all over the world appreciate your efforts. I know I do! You are a living legend!

O.k. on to the good stuff! My package came from Norma Harris and I love every bit of it! Thank you Norma!

Hopefully you can click on the picture to get a good view of everything.
I mentioned in my exchange "application" that "If you make me laugh, I'll be your friend forever." So I think that is why I got this funny book! And look at the lovely bits of tatting! It is so special to own pieces of lace tatted by hands other than my own.
I will put the bookmark to good use and I love the color green! I am excited to try the Omega thread; I've never had a chance to tat with it before.
I need to find a creative way to use those beautiful beads and I think my favorite of all is the vintage linen hanky; I will set it aside for a very special project!
You are the best Norma!

After my partner has opened her package I will share what I sent out.

Summer Tatting Exchange

Well in spite of my rotten luck with secret exchanges in the past (9 out of 10 exchanges I have been forgotten and left to feel very sorry for myself) I decided to join the "Here be Tatters" summer exchange. I know that exchanges are about the giving and not the receiving, but it is nice to be acknowledged in the very least.
Anyhow I am very excited to send my partner her package. I just finished it up and I decided to share one very small part of what is included.

I won't say anything about it and since it is just one of many items it won't spoil the surprise. Hmmmmm....I wonder who my partner could be????
It seems like everyone has joined this exchange and it is going to be so fun at the end of the month to see what everyone has given and gotten.

I still have not found out what these flowers are yet. Everyone has been really helpful...but there has not been a definitive answer yet. I am on the fence about them being Hibiscus ...because they don't have that large phallic stem in the middle.
We had a monsoon yesterday which knocked most of the blooms off. But hubby was nice enough to take this picture so that you smarties out there can get a better size reference.

I had enough energy today to do a little exercise...which is a BIG deal. I think I am on the mend.
