PURE silver shuttles discounted 12% to 17% OFF

Hello tatting friends, just a short note to let you know that I have discounted a few of my pure 99.9% silver shuttles.
I know some people may look at the price of one of my silver shuttles and think, "Wow, that LadyShuttleMaker who does she think she is??? Does she think her shuttles are worth gold?!?!?
Well, not exactly gold but yes, silver indeed, is at an all time high.
Let me explain. It takes around 50g of Silver clay to make one shuttle. As of this blog post 50 grams of Silver costs $112 + shipping.
After tools, finishing supplies, and firing costs, I am already running at a loss. This does not even begin to take into account my years of expertise or the hours upon hours of craftsmanship that goes into each precious metal shuttle.

Yes, I know, this is not a very smart business venture on my part. I did this, in part, because I wanted to see if I could, and because I wanted to create some of the most beautiful and special shuttles on the planet... regardless of cost.

My hope was to at least break even but I have lost hope for that. And that is ok, not everything is about money. But it would be nice to minimize my losses.

Anyhow, I know there are some out there who have been secretly drooling over these shuttles for awhile so to you I say, "SALE SALE SALE"!

Up first we have:

This shuttle was $145 and is now $120. It is a little difficult to see in the photo but it has a lovely light green enameling in the recesses of the design.

Next we have:

This one used to be $125 and is now $110

And finally this shuttle used to be $140 and is now $120

And just to emphasize, these are NOT silver PLATED, nor or they STERLING silver...they are PURE PURE PURE SILVER!!!!!

With Christmas around the corner my heart is full of good cheer and I just want to share that!

Can you imagine what an awesome stocking stuffer one of these would make?

Oooh la la!

I am very proud to present my newest pure silver tatting shuttle. A lot of very hard work went into this shuttle and I debated back and forth on whether I should keep this one for myself. But at this point I cannot afford to do so, therefore I have placed it for sale in the etsy shop. It is an absolute dream to tat with!

Todays featured shuttle

Winter Cabin #3

Yesterday we had one of those blizzards with the awesome gigantic pancake flakes (my favorite kind of snow). So that inspired me to do another winter scene. Today all the snow is gone and it is sunny again but the surrounding hills are coated with a beautiful white blanket.

Here is Miss P wearing Grandma Diane's pretty pink onsie with tatting. It is one of the very rare times you will see 'Dilly decked out in pink....but we made an exception for Diane because she is such a sweet grandma!

The silver shuttles are listed

Well, the shuttles are listed and they are a smoke'n deal. Because they are my first shuttles and just slightly on the "rough" side their price is only just above cost...so first come first serve.
I had a hard time deciding which one to keep for myself and I am still not sure if I made the right choice, I truly like each and every one of them.
I am confident their new recipients will love them too!

How lucky am I????

Look what arrived in my mail box? I was one of the very fortunate winners of our dear Diane's recent giveaway. A very pretty shuttle with a lot of potential. I have no idea how Dan bends the wood in the way that he does to get the lovely profile that you see. Well done Dan! There is a lot of space on the shuttle for decoration too...I was thinking maybe some wood burning??? As a shuttle maker myself, I can properly appreciate the time and effort that goes into such a venture.
Thank you both!

I need some tat testers for my upcoming book; The Exquisite Collection of Tatted Butterflies II. I decided to try something different by putting out this request online. I need intermediate to advanced tatters. You would only be testing one pattern and for that you will receive a skein of HDT. My testers will be chosen on a first come first serve basis and you are to remain anonymous. None of the patterns are overly complicated and can be completed in about 1 hour. Once I email you the pattern I would need it tested as soon as possible. If this is something that might interest you please email me privately at LadyShuttleMaker@Hotmail.Com

*****UPDATE*****
Wow, I got so many responses for test tatters that the patterns are now all taken. That was super quick!
Thank you for all those who have volunteered!

Please review the giveaway rules here.

Ladies and Gents, this week's first prize is one of my handmade ceramic tatting shuttles. TA DA!

You may have noticed....(or not) that I haven't had any shuttles for sale in my Etsy Shop for sometime. Being on a pottery sabbatical for a year and a half has made it difficult to keep the supply flowing...LOL. This is one of my very last shuttles...that is until I get the studio up and running again. I have been working VERY VERY hard on renovating the studio and I hope be able to share my transformation with you all this week....(fingers tightly crossed that everything will come together).
So here is your chance to get your hands on a one of a kind pink and purple ceramic shuttle.

Remember the more who enter the more prizes that will be given away...so really it behooves you to share the good news.

The winner/s will be announced on Sunday, followed by a brand new giveaway on Monday.

Have fun and good luck!

Whackadoodle Ceramic Tatting Shuttle

Just listed this funky fun little number in the Etsy shop today. Also, I have a bunch of crazy new hand dyed (HDT) tatting threads drying. They should be listed by tomorrow. I think all these migraines have finally pushed me over the edge, I am turning into someone I barely recognize.....I just hope this new person isn't too crazy. Time will tell.

Ceramic Tatting Shuttle Giveaway

That's right bloggers! I am going to give away one of my hand crafted one of a kind ceramic tatting shuttles for FREE! How can you get in on this deal????

It's very simple; all you have to do is make sure you have a link to my blog on your page AND leave a comment here letting me know. That's it!

I have noticed that new tatting blogs are popping up almost daily and I thought this might be a good way for me to keep up.

If you check my blog roll to the right you'll see that I have 110 blogs as of this posting....in fact yours is probably already there, but if not then I can learn who you are!

Sound fun??? Your blog doesn't even have to be a strictly tatting blog to enter, pretty much you just need to appreciate tatting. What a deal!

On Jan 15th I'll put all the names in a hat and let my husband draw the lucky winner!
Good luck!
Feel free to spread the word!!!

4 o'clock rock'n and rolling

Today in tatting class we learned how to add new threads by using the weaver's knot. We also worked on understanding and using patterns. We used my leaf pattern which is great for easily working with multi colors of threads and the best thing is that you can hide the ends in the stem with a Josephine chain..(next week's lesson.)

Added some new shuttles to the shop. Starting to run low on shuttles......Boy do I desperately miss my pottery studio!

And I updated "Fuchsia". This batch is bang on!

Her name is RIO and she dances on the sand

Here is another tropical HDT named "RIO". This tatting thread is inspired by my recent zoo visits. Birds are always my favorite animals to admire followed closely by monkeys and then Polar bears and then....Ok.Ok.. I love ALL the animals...but the birds ARE my favorite! My husband named this thread and we both love Duran Duran.

Latest shuttle to be added to the shop.

The TIAS is going well so far. I hope everyone has as much fun participating as I have had preparing it.

Happy TATTING day!

A lot has happened since my last post. First off, hubby and I went skydiving on Sunday morning. It was awesome and just like I always imagined it would be. We flew to 13,500 feet and somersaulted out of the plane for a 60 second free fall before the parachutes opened. It was exhilerating and not for one second was I ever nervous. However, that is probably because I had an home art show later that day and I was very nervous for that.
Photobucket
Monday I had a long aweful root canal and today I had it crowned so my mouth feels pretty terrible right now. This morning's doc comes in and says, "So how was the root canal?" and I replied in the most cheery voice I could muster, "It was awesome! I wish every day was root canal day!" She laughed!
I was lying there for two hours thinking, "I jumped out of an airplane...I can handle this..." but I wasn't convincing myself very well.

The art show went fantastically and I am ever so pleased. We played classical music, had wine, cheese and chocolate available and hopefully brought a little culture into our friends lives.
I made almost enough money to pay for this dentistry and for that I am thankful.

Photobucket
On to tatting related stuff:
I have a new favorite personal shuttle and surprisingly it is a large one. I have small hands and prefer to use small shuttles but I have a big project to work on and I thought "Why not give it a try?". So I chose this shuttle and to my delight is holds 50 yards of size 20 tatting thread, it also feels quite comfortable in my hands. Yippee for trying new things!

Happy Tatting Day!

Shuttle of the Month - October Shuttle

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
As promised here is the first "Shuttle of the Month" I am offering in my Etsy shop at a very nicely discounted price.
October is my favorite time of year. I love the harvest season and the changing of the leaves, the crisp mornings and the pleasant afternoons, and not to mention it is my birth month. I think everyone loves their birth month.
I love pumpkins and their pumpkiny color so this shuttle is a tribute to all those things.

Love to TAT

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I wanted to tat something for my Aunt who is sending me copies of some of my great grandmother's original poetry. I don't know what this motif is going to be, I just started tatting and this is where I ended up. I guess even I will have to wait to see what it becomes.

I finally got my Tatters across Time mailed off. I've had it finished for a couple of weeks but they are very particular about how it should be packaged and sent back so that took me almost as long as the actual tatting. But it is another thing I can cross off my list and I am very excited for the next step of the program.

It's been two weeks since the dog attack and I have not been able to do any pottery. My hand just hasn't healed enought yet. I have been out longer than I thought I would, much to my chagrin, but I have been able to do a lot of other things I normally wouldn't have time to do. So I guess there really IS a bright side to everything.

Where all the shuttles are going. Part II

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I have been updating this map in a previous post, but since that post is buried among all the others I thought I would revisit it here.
I still have a long way to go to reach my goal of a shuttle in every state, but it is also nice to see my progress thus far. I also have shuttles in Canada, England, Wales, Australia and most recently Japan. YAY!

Clusters of what? And the cutest litte girl ever!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
My mother's favorite flowers are lilacs. So I thought I would design an edging of lilacs for her. This is what I came up with. Looking at it, it is probably obvious to you...(but not to me at first) that it looks a lot like grapes. Ha! I can't get away from the grape theme. Anyway, this is a simple two shuttle pattern. Substitute a nice grapey color and add clover-style leaves instead of single leaves and voila!
For those terrified of 5 shuttle tatting, here is my two shuttle version of the grape edging!
I mentioned in a previous post that I thought this would look nice in white so I tested that and here it is.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I do like this, but unfortunately the grape leaves seem to get lost in the clusters.

Anyhow, I will try to make these patterns available in book form and/or in my Etsy shop in the future. I have been having so much fun designing patterns and I am trying to ride the creative wave as long as I can, but it's devouring all my time. Unfortunately, my pottery has been suffering and pottery is what puts the "butter on the bread" in my house. So I need to re-prioritize a bit.
Awww, who am I kidding? If I cut out a few more hours of sleep I think I can fit it all in...

Almost forgot... I had the privilege of doing this custom shuttle for a client. Doesn't this little sweetheart just make your heart melt? This shuttle will be a father's day gift to the grandfather of the little girl pictured.
